1km erg time

2016/7/22 9:48:15

Question
Hi,I'm a novice rower 14 years old and completed one rowing season. My best 1km ergo time towards the end of the season was 3:46. Is this time good or not?
Also, I want to get stronger for next season any advice?
thanks

Answer
Hi Phoebe: 3:46 is an outstanding time for a 14-year old woman.  In fact, it is the 2nd best 1K time for your gender and age in Australia, based on the Concept II World rankings.  I'd suggest you try a 2K piece for best time, as that is the standard most rowers compare themselves to.

If you want to increase muscle and strength, the time-tested method is through weight lifting and weight training.

Good Luck/AP
