Question
Im a College freshman(once the school year starts) and joined the crew team. I have 4 years of High school Cross Country and 4 years or hurdles and pole vaulting(i was much better at hurdles and vaulting).

im 6'3 and in the 150 lbs. i generally dont put on weight, but was curious if it would be better for me to try and stay in the lightweight, or if i should try to gain weight for heavy weight.

Answer
Hi Dylan: Stay lightweight.  Your cross country experience and tall height makes you a great lightweight candidate.

That said, 6'-3" and a buck-fifty is pretty lean.  Since the college lightweight limit is 160 pounds, it wouldn't hurt if you tried to add ten pounds of muscle.  Dedicate the rest of the summer to a mass-building weightlifting routine (heavier weights and low repetitions) and see if you can try to add some additional protein to your diet.

Good Luck/AP
