I have 2 type 99 rifles, 1 is the last ditch type 99, can I shoot SP as well as FMJ ammo with these rifles.

Answer
The type 99 was design to fire 7.7?8mm Arisaka in
   Ball條ead core
   Tracer條ead core
   A.P.梙ard steel core
   Incendiary梂hite phosphorus and lead
   H.E.桺ETN and lead

There no reason you can not use soft point ammo.
Hornady 7.7x58 JAP 150 Gr SP ammo.
