Opinion on Kel Tec

2016/7/22 9:14:55

Question
I am thinking of buying a Kel Tec sub 2000 (9 mm carbine that folds)...what is your opinion of this firearm? Also, how would you compare it to the Hi-Point 9mm carbine which is less expensive?

I plan to target shoot/plink with it mostly but may consider packing it in the car for self defense on trips once I arrive at my destination.

Answer
I've shot both and briefly owned the Kel Tec.

Down side of both guns is that they hard to clear of malfunctions quickly and because of a strong spring recoil much harder than, say, a .223 rifle (not onerous - certainly nothing like a shotgun, but surprisingly annoying).

The Kel Tec has some very fragile parts on it, including the sighting system. I'm not really crazy about either gun, but if I had to chose one or the other, I'd take the Hi-Point.
