Question
I have a Revelation Model 330A 410GA.  3INCH Western Auto Supply Co. rifle that was supposedly my great great grandfathers and I was wondering if you could tell me a little bit of the history of this rifle, and what it may be worth.

Answer
William,

Unfortunately, there is not much to tell.  The shotgun was actually made by Mossberg.  It is the equivalent to the Mossberg 183.  There were a bunch of different versions made and many of them were sold as house brands by companies like Western Auto, Sears and Montgomery Wards.

The Mossberg 183 was very popular as a starter shotgun because of the small gauge and the relative safety of a bolt action versus a pump or semi- auto.  A lot of kids got these as their first shotgun to take when they went hunting with Dad...

The shotguns were made between 1948 and 1985.  Sounds like you might have one of the earlier ones.  They are not considered to be collectable and in terms of value they can be worth $75 to $150 depending on condition.  To be worth $150 it would have to be in 'new in box' type condition.

That's about all I can tell you...I hope it helps.

Regards,

Doug Little
