Question
Here comes what probably will be a tough one.  Can you provide any information on the manufacturer of a single barrel 12 ga. that is stamped Carolina Arms Co.?  It belonged to my great grandfather and has been handed down since the 1920's, I'm guessing.  I'd appreciate any information you might have.  Best regards.

Answer
Hi
Carolina Arms Co was a trade used Crescent Arms Company of Norwich Ct on guns made for Smith Wadsworth Hardware in Charlotte NC.
Its a inexpensive, well made, utility grade shotgun that was sold under 100s of different names.
Often refered to as hardware guns (many sold by hardware stores), as opposed those higher end prestige guns.(sold by outfitters)
They were made from 1892 to 1930. Its worth $50 to $200 depending on condition.
If it has liquid steel barrels 2 3/4th inch chamber it should safe standard velosity lead shot ammo.
You should have it given a quick once over by a gunsmith before firing.
