Stevens 940 12ga 2 3/4

2016/7/22 9:08:13

Question
I got an old Stevens 940 single shot shotgun froam a friend in 12 ga 2 3/4chamber. I have taken it completely apart and cannot find a serial number anywhere. Did they make these shotguns without serial numbers? If it has one, where is it?

thank you,

Answer
Your gun may not have a serial number, since serial numbers were not required by law in the USA until 1968.

If it has a serial number, it should be located on the right side of the "water table". The water table is the section of the frame that is covered by the barrels when the action is closed.

Hope this helps!

Dave
