Question
its a 22 cal 2in barrel i think its a j frame above serial # o serial# 430xx below serial# 8 on bottom of grip frame 10484 thanks don

Answer
Don,

My best guess is that it is a Model 34.  This gun was made on a 'J' frame and 'I' frame.  The 'J' frame had an adjustable sight.  If the sight is fixed, it is the 'I' frame version.  It was a 6 shot and came in either  a 2" or 4" barrel, square or round butt and available in either blued or nickel finishes.

Production started in 1958 (I think...) and the model was discontinued in 1991.

Does this sound like your gun?

Values for this gun in 95% condition would be$295, 90% condition - $225, 80% condition - $185.

If you want authoritative info, you can write Smith & Wesson and provide them with the serial number.  They will give you a factory letter with the history of the gun.  There is a $50 for this service by Smith & Wesson.
