Selling a Gun

2016/7/22 9:12:40

Question
Under the present laws, is it OK for me to sell a gun to a private individual.  I would assume I should get DL #, address, bill of sale, ect. Any other information?

Answer
Bary,

The laws on firearms transfers vary from state to state.  Some state laws permit face to face transfers between residents, others require that a federally licensed firearms dealer be involved.  To answer your question, I need to know your state of residence.

If you are in Arizona or if the transfer is being done with someone who lives in a different state than you do, you can read the following article on my blog that explains in detail how to do an interstate transfer or a private party transfer in AZ.

Drop me a follow up with your state of residence and I'll get you a specific answer.

Best regards,

Doug
