Moving from Colorado to Arizona with firearms

2016/7/22 9:17:38

Question
I am moving from Colorado to Arizona. We will be driving the moving truck ourselves. Is it legal for me to bring my rifles in the moving truck when moving to another state? Will I need to register them when I arrive?

Answer
Kris,

Since you will be driving through Colorado and Arizona, you should have no issues transporting your firearms.   I would recommend that you transport them in an unloaded condition and in cases to protect them.  You do not need to meet any other legal standard for transporting firearm in Arizona.  If you have handguns, they should also be cased and unloaded.  That will prevent you from having any issues regarding having a 'concealed' weapon in the passenger compartment of your vehicle.

There are no registration laws in Arizona.  Arizona is one of the more permissive states with respect to firearms.

Hope this helps and I hope you enjoy our beautiful state...

Best regards,

Doug
