History and any value?

Question
Hello ~

We own a rifle that we were hoping you might have some info on.  Best as we can tell it was manufactured by the National Arms Co.  We did a search the internet and what we found was a company that was productive in the mid 1800's.  It is a 30.06 bolt action rifle with ivory/ebony looking floral leafy designs inlaid on the sides and handgrip of the rifle.

Familiar with a historic significance or value of the rifle?  Thanks for any info you have.

Take care

Answer
Grant,

The "National Arms Co." is a trade name used by the H&D Folsom Arms Co. on guns made for the Moskowitz and Herbach Co. of Philadelphia, PA, and for the May Hardware Co. of Washington, D.C.

Also..... H&D Folsom Arms was a distributor of firearms actually produced by Crescent Firearms Co. Norwich, Connecticut.

As for particular example, I do not have detailed records for any 1800's firearms as to particular model/caliber in question. It no doubt is an early specimen and may actually have some "historic significance" but I am not personally aware of it.

Due to its rarity I would suggest that you deliver your firearm to a qualified person who can personally inspect the firearm and provide you with a written appraisal. It is impossible for me to provide a value without benefit of a personal inspection.

I hope that the information that I was able to provide concerning the companies involved will assist you in your pursuit of additional info.

Thanks for the question Grant.
