Golden Eagle Rifles

Question
Mr. Sid,
I recently purchased a Golden Eagle .270 bolt action rifle, it is a beautiful gun which I can't wait to use this coming hunting season. My question is if you might know more about these rifles or perhaps a web sight that I could go to, to do some research on the history and value of these rifles.Thank you very much.

Answer
Hi Jason,

In my opinion you have purchased a very well made and eye appealing rifle.

The Golden Eagle was manufactured by Nikko Limited of Tochigi, Japan. They manufactured both shotguns and rifles and made some of the Japan - Winchesters.

As for the rifles...... they made the Model 7000 Grade 1 which is a Mauser bolt action rifle chambered for most (if not all) of our most popular rifle calibers. They are available with a 24" or 26" barrel, walnut stock, rosewood pistol grip cap and forend tip.

I believe that your rifle is of this model and in "Very Good" condition has an approximate retail value of between $500 and $600.

Just for reference, they also made the Model 7000 African which is the same as the above but only in .375 and .458 Mag. calibers with open sights.

Also mfg. was the Model 7000 Grade 2 which is the same as the above expect with engraving.

Although I have not checked, with a little additional research you may find that there is a collectors association which would be an additional resource for info.

Thanks for the question Jason.
