four-position shooting techniques

Question
I am writing a paper for school about 4-position shooting and I would like to know some very general advice about the techniques you use in shooting. And I would also like to know if you could give me some advice that you would give a beginner who has just jound a club?
Thank you, Jasmine

Answer
It actually kind of hard as normally you need to see what the person is doing. In general, you help the get into the 4 positions PROPERLY.  Go over all safety percaution BEFORE live ammo is on the firing line. You would go over match rules. Ecplain the distance you will be shooting or simulated
distanced. Any 100 yard range can simulate 200 yards, 300 yards and 600 yards with size reduced targets.
(its to rally shoot the distances then at size reduced targets) You explain scoring. Show them spotting ans target pulling (if needed)
You explain the site picture which can vary with the style of rifle and type of 4 position event. Smallbore, bigbore, free rifle, NRA rapid fire.
You would show them how to breath. ie slowly letting it out
before firing. How to smoothly operate the trigger with out jerking it. How to properly use the shooting coat, glove and sling. How to properly hold the rifle.

There are extemely General guidelines.
Normally you teach it with an expirenced shooter night near
the new shooter till they get the hang of it. Demonstrate
whats needed to new shooter.
