Value of a pistol

Question
My Grandfather bought a Smith & Wesson 38/357, nickle plated, 4" from cylinder, serial 2x247, unfired, and I would like to know its value so I can sell it for a good price. Unsure of its date, possibly bought in mid 70's. Thank you for any and all info you can give me for this gun .

Answer
Hello Don. First, I do not evaluate firearm, since there are so many visual points to consider. Second, you have not given enough information. To identify a firearm, you must give the model number or name, the stampings on every part of the gun and the serial number ( NO XXX"s !! ). Contact me again, and I can get you closer to the identity. I can refer you to an auction site that you may be able to find your firearm and an approximate value there. It is www.gunsamerica.com. I hope this helps and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
