Savage/Fox Shotgun Date Code Guide: How to Determine Manufacturing Year

I have a Savage/Fox double barrel shotgun Series H,serial #C602660 that I would like the date of when it was manufactured.Thank you.
Answer
There no serial number database for Savage Fox "B" models.
If it was made in 1949 there should be a a capitol letter circle.
A=1949 B=1950 Etc.
They stopped that system in 1973.
Production continued till 1988.
Basically if there no date code you need to contact Savages private historian.
(the company changed hands in 1995, Savage has no records for prior to that)
