Shooting Slugs from Fixed Choke Shotguns: Can You?

Question
Our Q:is Can or Can't you shoot a slug out of a browning auto 5 light 12 with a fixed choke or any other fixed choke for that matter? Even if it was a full choke???? A quick response would be appreciated theres a red dot scope on the line.....lol. Thanks in advance for the help...

Answer
Paul,

Yes, you can shoot a slug out of a Browning Auto 5 or any other shotgun with a fixed choke.  In general, it won't hurt the gun or the choke, but if it is a full choke, I'd probably limit the number of slugs I put through it.  If you are planning to shoot a lot of slugs, I'd consider removing the choke tube as you are just going to cause excess wear on it.  For modified or improved chokes, no issue at all.

Cheers,

Doug
