Winchester 1894 .38-55: Smokeless vs. Black Powder Ammunition?

Hello. Excuse me for my English.   I would know if my Winchester 1894 carbine caliber 38-55 serial number 217107 can use smokeless cartdridges or only black powder cartridges.  Thank you.  Pietro from Italy.

The Winchester 1894 was actually the first Winchester that was developed especially for smokeless powder and was chambered for the following smokeless cartridges: .32-40, .38-55, .25-35Win,
.30-30Win., and the .32 Win. Special.

If you have any doubts about what model, caliber, ammo usage, etc. about your rifle, I suggest delivering the firearm to a qualified person who can personally inspect it and confirm this info for you.
