Radom Model 35 Pistol

Question
QUESTION: I recently purchased a Model 35 Radom, .9mm, for $75.00.  The pistol has normal bluing wear.  Other than the bluing the pistol is in very good condition.  It also shoots very well and it operates very well.

The Serial Number on the pistol is G5779.  It has the name F.B. Radom - Model 35 - Patent # 15567 on it.

Could you please tell me where and when this pistol was made?  Could you please tell me if it is safe to shoot?  Could you please tell me what an approximate value of the pistol would be.

Thank You,

Dave Smith

ANSWER: Wow! You stole it! The Radom is a very well designed and made Polish pistol from the War and pre-war era. Should be safe to shoot, and they are getting quite collectible. It could be worth $250. up to $2500.. What are the dates on the gun  and any other proof marks? They were mfg. 1935-WWII. The ones built under Nazi occupation aren't worth quite as much. Thanks.

QUESTION: Experts:

Thank you for your response. I could not find a date on the pistol (Radom Model 35). Is there a book on this pistol? Is there a book with dates that would give a more precise year the pistol was manufactured?  With the above serial number (G5779) what would be an educated guess concerning if it was made prior to the German Occupation in Poland?  Thanks.

Answer
There are books on the Radom but none which I have. Janes modern military weapon series of books will probably have it. If there are no nazi eagles visible (they're small) then it is pre-occupation, though the date should be one the gun. Also you can tell (if it's in decent shape) by the quality of the finish, more specifically the polishing of the metal...no tool or flycutter marks is what I mean.  I would think it's early rather than late but it's just a guess. Thanks. also, just checked gunbroker, check out the occupation Radom for sale, you'll see what I mean by tool marks on front of slide, also a book listed VIS: the Radom 35 pistol, a book with all the data you could hope too find including reprints of the orig. manual. Gunbroker.com and punch radom in the search box.
