6.5x39 vs .30-30 for Whitetail Deer Hunting: Which is Better?

Plan on buying a rifle to hunt whitetail deer. Most of my shots have been under 150 yards. My question is will the 6.5x39 perform as well as the 30:30?  Thanks

I assume that this 6.5x39 is a wildcatted 7.62x39 case? Not being familiar with that specific cartridge I can only speculate. Without knowing more about it I'd go with the .30-30. I suspect that while the velocities are similar, the downrange energy will be better with the .30 cal. -Rod-
