First Skateboard

I want to buy a skateboard for my 6 year old nephew, yet I know nothing about skateboards. Are there any suggestions on what I should get him to start out with? Can I buy him a regular size board or should I go for a smaller one? I am clueless here seeing that I've only ever set foot on a skateboard once when I was a little girl.

Hey, I'll try to help you here. If the boy is small you could buy him a mini deck. All a mini deck is is a smaller version of the regular size. I even use a mini so theres nothign wrong with it compared to a regular size. For him it will probably be equivilant to a regular size board to a 6 foot tall skater. You should buy the skatebaord form a skate shop because the decks and other parts are of better quality. If he continues to skateboard he might stick with mini decks like I did or he might get a regular size board. Basically, if hes small I would get him a mini deck. I hope that helped you out.
