Question
Hi there,
I sprained my ankle almost one year ago.  I love to skate but am not sure if I should.  Are there special roller blades or skates that have support built in?
Thanks,
Jan

Answer
Jan,
Most inline skates are built with ankle support by nature of the buckle system & the materials they use. Quad skates to give maximum ankle support should be laced to the top & you can get good support from the Riedell 121 or 220 boots - their 297 has good support but less stiff & more  expensive than the  121 or 220. Their Silver Star & Gold Star have  tremendous ankle support but are pricey, very stiff & a chore to break in.
My personal choice would be the Riedell 297 for comfort (well padded) & ease of break in & superior construction - but the cheaper 220 & the cheapest 121 are stiffer. If you are in the NYC area - I am a Riedell dealer & my prices are  the best (212 777-3232 or [email protected]). Good luck!
