Choosing inline skates

2016/7/21 17:59:17

Question
I have participated in a couple of inline marathons and I have always used an inline skate with a full sized boot 4 x100 configuration. Are there any benefits to using a skate with an ankle high boot versus a full sized boot?

Answer
Hi
Todd,
My opinion is that low cut boots are more for racing. Skating in a marathon, being a longer more arduous event - over varied terrain reauires more ankle support & I believe is safer & more apropriate for a longer skate like a marathon.
Speed skating is almost always on a predictable smooth surface where ankle support is less crucial.
Play it safe with the higher boot.
