Question
I am 6'1" tall 170 lbs.  Probably still beginner rating but have learned fast and very athletic.  What size/type skis should I be looking for.  I'll probably be switching back and forth from snowboarding to skiiing when I get the chances to go......

Answer
Sorry for the delay in responding. I am a semi full time ski coach as well as a sales manager for a major sporting goods chain so my time has been tough these past weeks. Now to answer your question fully I will need some other information:

1) where do you ski (what are the difficult of runs and the terrain and snow types that you want to be successful in) as well as where (Midwest, Rockies, East,USA, Canada etc.)
2) what is your dream goal for skiing (e.g. I want to really carve better on groomed runs)
3) what do you enjoy most about the sport (speed, floating in powder, etc.)

The variety of equipment and terrain and your own desires make it possible to be very selective now. Though under most circumstances there is a set of lengths (within 5-10 cm of each other) that are considered average no for what you have told me there are sacrifices in performance capabilities or enhancements that occur as the length, shape and intended design use of a particular ski changes.
