Feet Sinking sideways

Question
Hi!

I'm a novice and had just bought a cheap pair of 4-wheel bladding shoes.
I discovered that as I start to move, the bottom of my feet began to 'sink' outwards the bladding shoes, causing the wheels to point inwards. I've tighten the strapes but somehow the bottom of my feet is able to shift inward angle as i move, causing my knees to point at an akward inward manner as well. I had no problem with another pair that I had borrowed. Could this be a problem of my feet, technique or of the product? Kindly advise.
Cheers!

Answer
Hi Dan

I hate to say it the word you used "cheap" might be the answer to your problem but.......not always.

There are 3 reason why your ankled may be turning in:
      1.  Possibly because your new to skating and haven't
developed the muscles you need to keep your
          ankles straight up.

      2.  The boot does not give you enough support in
          the ankle area.

      3.  You are skating with your feet to far apart.

New skaters tend to keep their feet far apart which will cause your ankles to turn inward.  Before investing in new skates, try skating with your feet as close as possible...no more than 6 inches apart.  That should help your ankles and your balance.

If it doesn't help, you may want to get a better skate with more support.  I would go with a hard shell boot rather than one with cloth.

Try it and if you have any more problems, feel free to contact me again.

Good Luck
Pat
