Rollerblade

Question
I'm interesting in skating for exercise.  Can you recommend a decent rollerblade skate for a beginner?
Thank you,
Brenda

Answer
I'm a real RollerBlade brand freak.  You can find parts (brakes) anywhere and they are durable.  They have both soft skates and hard molded skates.  I'm a fan of the hard mold skates especially for beginners... helps to support your ankles better.
The models change every year... best to go to a store (not a big sports center)--- lots of ski shops carry skates these days... you might want to try someplace like that.
Find someone who skates and is knowledgeable to advise you on premesis if you are in a skate shop.
Even for beginers I suggest an straight brake, not an "ABT" brake.  The ABT is easy to use, but is no where near as effective as the straight brake.  Straight brakes last longer and are cheaper inlong run.
Don't leave store without knee, wrist, elbow pads and HELMET.  You'll be much more confident knowing if you fall you wont seriously hurt anything.
