Hobie Alpha windsurfer parts

Question
Do you know where I can get a new back fin and the fitting that attaches the mast to the Alpha windsurfer?  How about a manual  I got the windsurfer for free, but it obviously is missing some parts.

Thanks

Wayne

Answer
Hey Wayne,

Your board will use and A Box or US Box type fin. Here is an example. The key is, the part that goes into the board will be like the one in this pic. For a larger board like yours you should look for something at least 15" and up to 18". Look for a race or slalom type fin. Wave or freeride fins will work but won't work as well for your board. You can find used ones on ebay and craigslist. Use windsurf, windsurfer, and windsurfing separately to get maximum results.

The part that connects the mast to the board is a mast base. The question here is, does your your board have a slot about 18" long or is there just a couple of holes in the top? If it is just a couple of holes, then you need a very specific base that was designed specifically for that board. Finding said mast base will be extremely difficult. You may have just a Stand Up Paddle board if that is the type base you need.

If your board has a slot type mast track, then here is where to get a new base,

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
