Replace mast track

2016/7/22 14:39:21

Question

Alpha
Hi, I need to replace the mast track for an old Alpha Comptec board, the thing is parts for those boards are no longer available and I`d like to use it with a modern mast base.Any advice how to do that ? I`d really appreciate any help, Thank you !

Answer
Hey Cesar,

If you were able to remove the old track (ie; the pic) by removing some screws, it shouldn't be hard to replace it. The main thing is to find a replacement that is the same length or you could go with just a bit shorter. Try OceanAirSports.com under windsurfing/parts for a few parts (if you are using a Mac, use Firefox, Safari won't work for their website). They are about the only direct resource I know of for older board parts. You could also try some different search engines using mast track, windsurfing mast tracks, etc. to locate other sources. You might also try 'custom windsurf boards' and maybe find a mast track from a custom board maker or they could possibly direct you to a source.

If you find something, you may need to drill new holes to match the hole locations on your board. If for some reason you aren't able to reuse all your screws/holes, be sure to fill them with a little tub/tile caulk.

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
