Naish Icon

Question
Hey Windlover,
Do you know anything about the Naish Icon 2007? I can't find much
other than that it does well with large sails and flatwater. I'm considering
the 120 or 130, at $750, new, from Windsurfingdirect, seems like a
great price. What about in chop and with smaller sails in stronger winds?
How does it compare to the Bic 118 and 133 Techno or the Tabou
Rocket 125? Any info. will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Answer
Hey Erik,

All of these boards receive high marks from the testers. I personally feel that the Naish is probably the best quality of the three brands with Tabou at second and Bic a very close third. The Bic will probably be a bit more forgiving but the Naish is a board that your abilities will grow into and not outgrow as you progress. Depending upon your sailing conditions, go for the size that you would be able to sail most often. 10 ltrs is not much difference for the Naish but the Bic gap would be quite different. I would suggest the 120 range if you can waterstart and make some jibes. You could probably rope start this size if need be depending upon your weight. If you are under 200lbs, go with the smaller range. Over that weight, go up a size.

For some more info on various boards, check out windsurfingmag.com equipment section for board tests and reviews.

Hope this helps and good luck with your shopping.
Keep on sailing,
Windlover
