Help with purchase

Question
I am looking to purchase a windsurf board/sail etc for my husband.  He is 5'9 and about 190.  He is an experience Hobie Cat sailor and has played around at windsurfing.  We have a home on the Sound at OBX in NC. Any recommendations?

Answer
I would look for a board in the 130 to 140 liter size.  He won't grow out of a board that size if he decides he wants to sail in stronger wind when he becomes more proficient.  I would look for a sail in the 7 meter range.  This size will be good for 15 to 20 mph winds on a 130 to 140 liter board.  I personally prefer the Sailworks Retro sail if you can get one.  If I remember correctly, Pamlico sound has eel grass seaweed so you will need a weed fin also.  In addition he will need a mast, boom and mast foot to fit the sail.  There are many shops in the Hatteras area that you may be able to buy a used board and rig.  You should look up all the shops there and go and talk to them also.  Good Luck and Good Wind.
