Vent Screw

2016/7/22 14:41:49

Question
I rode my new board for the first time without the vent screw (I didn't even know boards had vent screws). Did I ruin my board?, I understand the risk is that water wets the inside foam affecting buoyancy. Is there a way to dry the inside of the board?. Mine is a Bic Nova 170. I'm using it on a lake in MN. Thanks.

Answer
I think that it should be ok if you only sailed it a couple of times like that but I would turn it so the vent is facing down for a day or 2 to see if anything leaks out, then leave it out in the sun with the board turned so the vent is facing upwards for a day or 2.  This will allow any water vapor to escape.
