borad for gusty wind

2016/7/22 14:41:19

Question
Hi, I'm an intermediate surfer(160lbs, 180 cm) who wants to progress all the technique with a confortable but performing board. This board have to be used in flat water in gusty wind condition(blasts range: 0-17 kts). Can you suggest which volume size and brand or type to choose? Thanks

Answer
Hey Marco,

You probably want to look at a freeride board somewhere in the range of 115-130ltrs. This will depend upon whether you can waterstart or not. If yes, maybe go with the lower range, if not go with the higher range. You should be able to uphaul on a 115 but it will be a bit of a challenge. Boards in this range would handle the conditions you mention. As for brand, just about any new freeride board in this range will be good. It would probably come down to personal choice and availability. For some great reviews go to windsurfingmag.com and look under equipment and then board tests. There are also links to many shops and manufacturers.

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
