Finding a Replacement Mast Base for Your O'Brien Sailboard

Question
Hi
I have an O'Brien sail board from the late 80's (approx 1988 or 89).  I cannot
find the mast base.  Is there any resources out there to try to locate one.  I am
not sure on the exact size--I will take measurements this weekend so I can be
more specific.  Is there a generic mast base that works on all boards??

Answer
Hey Sue,

There is a standard mast base that works on all boards with a standard mast track. It will be an aluminum slot in the top of the board about 18" long with an opening about 3/8" wide. If your board has a track like this, any standard mast base will work.

Check this site for info on bases;  www.chinooksailing.com

If your board has just a couple of holes, then it is a proprietary item that only fits O'Brien mast bases. If that is the case, I have no resources for finding a mast base to fit other than ebay and your local craigslist. Search windsurf, windsurfer, windsurfing at both sites.

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
Windlover
