Question
Is edema (fluid in the feet and legs)ever a side effect of walking?

Answer
This sounds like something of medical concern. I can't give medical advice.

I will tell you that after long ultramarathons in which a lot of walking was done, I have had edema in my legs. It was just due to me pushing myself far beyond my conditioning level.

If we assume an analogy to you having edema after walking, this indicates that low mileage is way beyond your conditioning level. But this tells me that your conditioning level is abnormally low, indicating a possible medical problem.

I think you should have it checked out.
