heel pain

Question
Hello Scott
I had a heel spur on the medial right heel---MD gave me a painfull shot----it worked. 8 weeks later, I was getting out of my car and BAM---pain on the lateral side of the same heel. However, this pain is not the same as the first time. The first time I could not walk. This time, I can walk, but with a painfull pull from front of foot to heel. Any suggestions? I would go back to MD, but I live in Puerto Rico. I went to NY to see a specialist because nothing worked for me here on the island.....HONEY

Answer
Sorry, but I cannot give medical advice. I was under the impression that it takes surgery to completely fix a heel spur problem, so your new pain might still be related to the spur. In any case, you really do need a doctor's help. You might try consulting with a chiropractor, if any are available, for some non-surgical treatments.

In the meantime, I would suggest getting well-cushioned shoes and maybe even using a gel heel pad in them. These steps will only help with the pain until you can consult with a medical professional.
