Walking Speed & Fitness: What's a Good Pace for a 61-Year-Old?

Question
How long should it take a 61 year old female to walk 1.5 miles, to be deemed to be a "good" shape? Are there any standards out there?

Answer
I'm not sure the time by itself is the best indicator. There are walking tests, where you time yourself for a specific distance, then factor in weight to get an estimate of maximum oxygen consumption (VO2Max). VO2Max is used to estimate physical condition. Try to find information on how to conduct a Rockport Walking Test on yourself, and this could give you the information you desire on your physical condition.
