Question
hello im cory and im 16, I want a road bike to train on for hockey about twice a week.  I wanted to get a bike somewhere around $150, but I read somewhere that for less than $500 it isnt worth it.  What kind of bike would you get?

Answer
Hello Cory,

Unfortunately your are right about the money. Many bike's aren build to last a long life, something you (I assume)to want to have. For 500$ you can buy a nice bike with nice components. Certainly to ride twice a week for about 50 miles. Take a Shimano/Campagnolo group, like a 105/Veloce. But also the basics from a bike is the frameset. With a weak frame with nice components it isn't worth anything.
Trek and Specialized and also Giant made nice bike's in that category.
When you needed more details, I'd like to hear from you.

Maybe a secondhand can make a difference. But let that checked buy a certified dealer or bikestore.
PS Also the right bikesize will do a lot!

I'm back on tuesday the 10th.

Greeting

Michael
