Protecting Your Aluminum Boat from Saltwater Corrosion

I was curious if it was ok to use my aluminum boat in brackish or salt water? If it is ok what precautions should i take to protect my boat?

Dear Tony,

A beer can will dissolve in salt water with in months.  I would suggest coating the hull with a phosphate primer, and then an antifouling boat bottom paint.  The Urethane Teflon found at www.boat-bottom-paint.com is one source.
