1980 Crestliner Crusader

2016/7/15 18:26:36

Question
I am looking at a 1980 Crestliner Crusader.  The person selling this boat says that the gas takes are two 5gal. plastic tanks that fit under the 2 rear seats and says that it does not have the tanks in the side wall.  Was this common on these boats? Is there anything else about this boat I should look at when I go to see it tomorrow.

Thank you, Doug

Answer
Hi Doug...thank you for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.

I vaguely recall the Crusader. Was it 18ft. in length? What type of power does your boat have?

In the 1980's, plastic fuel tanks began to replace the metal ones, because they were lighter.

In view of the yr. of the boat, I highly recommend you consult a qualified and reliable marine surveyor to undertake a condition & valuation assessment. It just might save you a lot of money in the long run. Alternatively, positive results will give you peace of mind and confidence that you have selected a sound and seaworthy vessel that does not require extensive restoration.
