Question
Hi Ron,
Recently bought a used boat with a 2003 johnson bombardier
motor, 115 hp 4 stroke. The gentelman told me it was made by suzuki and i was a little skeptical of this motor, it will be my first johnson, upon close inspection allot of the parts inside are marked with japanese writing and a sticker on the transom bolt up plate reads made in japan.
I would like to know any background infromation on the motor and if there are any problem areas to watch out for.
Basically is this a good sound motor or am i running scared.

Answer
Hi Greg...Thank you for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question. Unfortunately, I'm not a mechanic, and off hand, I can't recall which company acquired Johnson/Evinrude.

There are marine mechanics available via AllExperts, so I suggest you explore them. Have you consulted a local Johnson/Evinrude dealer or repair facility? I'm confident they might assist you.

Safe Boating
Ron
