water in bilge

Howdy, I have a 1980 amf crestliner crusader 770 with a 115 johnson. Took it out last week and it seems to be taking on too much water in the bilge! Just wondering how much is to much. Was not in the water 15min and it was almost full without running bilge pump seems like something not right!I can't find any information on these boats any help would be appreciated. Thanks

After launching, rapid leakage suggests the drain plug may not have been inserted or properly secured. Also, through-hull fittings for a speedometer or depth/fish sonar unit or any other device, could be damaged and permitting water to enter the hull. Check all fastenings for all through-hull devices below the waterline have not released, partially or totally Before launching, did you check the bottom of the hull for any damage, such as cracks, or punctures, etc. Are you certain  water wasn't already inside the boat due to rain, melting snow, etc. seeping into the boat by way of the hull/deck joint, while the boat was laid up?

After taking the boat out of the water, did you see where water was draining from? Any problems at the transom, such as engine mount bolts leaking, or whatever?

If all else fails, best you consult a qualified and reliable marine repair facility to detect and resolve the problem. I doubt it, but due to the age of the boat, osmosis could be a problem, but it wouldn't result in rapid ingress of water directly into the bilge.
