Tune Up

2016/7/15 18:29:15

Question
I have a 1993 Bayliner 3058 Command Bridge with a Mercruiser 7.4l plant and Bravo II outdrive. I have done all I can think of in the way of tuning it up for fuel efficiency. New plugs/wires dist.cap and roter and roter sensor, fuel pump and timed the engine. Is there anything that I can do to decrease fuel consumption? I'd like to have a Sun Machine do some more diagnostics but how will they check the exhaust gas. Do you know if any companied do inwater diagnostics? Many Thanks

Answer
Hi Chris...Thanks for selecting the undersigned to respond to your question.

Sounds like you've covered all of the bases. Fuel efficiency is influenced by wear and tear on the engine, adequate air input and ventillation, a clean and smooth hull exterior surface below the waterline, overall weight of the boat, passengers, equipment, fuel, holding tanks, etc., weight distribution, as well as the type of sea conditions that are usually encountered, such as calm versus turbulent waters.

I suggest you consult a local marina or marine surveyor for sources that may offer the type of diagnostics you are preferring to have undertaken.
