Trim will not go up

Question
I have a Sea Ray 180BR I/O boat with a Mercruiser I/O engine.  The trim will not go up.
Any suggestions.

Answer
Hi Debbie

Thanks for selecting the undersigned to respond to your question. So long as you have confirmed there is power going to the power trim unit, try these trouble-shooting proceedures.

First, check and make sure the hydraulic fluid level is up to par. Secondly, check for leaks of fluid via worn or damaged seals (you'll see evidence of red oil dripping). Finally, check piston to determine it isn't bent or jamned, or that some foreign object hasn't interfered with the hydraulic system. If all else fails, have it checked by a qualified marine mechanic.
