Is my marine battery charging when my out board is working ?

Question
Hello Ron, I hope you can help me out with this one....
I have recently bought a 1975 Norman 23ft canal cruiser, I keep it near Birmingham in the UK.
It has a yamaha 14 horse 2 stroke out-board that is started electricly from the bulkhead.
My question is.... Is the battery charging when the engine is working ? What gauges should I install to moniter the battery condition ?
Any help would be fantastic !!!!
Very best regards
Darren

Answer
Hello Darren...Thank you for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.

I had no idea Yamaha ever made a 14hp o/b, and with electric start or with an alternator, which would charge your battery(s), and if it's a 2-stroke, it's probably several years old. Consult a dealer for further info.

You will need a "volt meter" in order to monitor the battery's level.
