Question
I have an 8'x4' styrofoam filled boat. I was wondering if I need to register it before I put it in the water with a trolling motor?

Answer
Hi Randy...Thank you for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.

I'm based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and currently am not up-to-date on U.S. Federal & State Laws. I suggest you check with the local Coast Guard facility (see yellow pages) or go online. Also verify with the appropriate state authoritie(s) whether any type of motorized vessel is prohibited from certain lakes, incl. electric motors. Also check whether your 8' styrofoam boat has affixed a mnaufacturer's "Construction Standards" plate and a "Load Capacity" plate, approved by the US Coast Guard.
