Wilker boat

2016/7/15 18:30:40

Question
I am planning on purchasing 1999 Wilker Weekender 19' boat with 3.0 Litre Mercruiser (430hours)which never been nin the salt water. Planning to use it on Long Island NY so it is unlikely to ever see fresh water again. Will it work? Should I do any refurbishing? Usual questions from person who is not a real boater. Thanks in advance. Edward

Answer
Hi Ed...thank you for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.

Although I've not had experience operating a boat in salt water, I suggest you should consult a reliable and experienced marine mechanic who can guide you properly. I don't perceive any problems, except having to thoroughly flush the fresh water system at the end of the season to avoid build-up of salt/minerals, etc.
