Evinrude 15hp fuel mixture

2016/7/15 18:32:24

Question
I have a 1982 15hp evinrude outboard engine we are trying to get going.  Do you know the fuel mixture?

Answer
Hi Nancy...Thank you for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question. By the way, I'm not a mechanic.

Back in '82 I had a 10hp Scott-Atwater o/b with a 5gal. portable tank. If I recall, the mixture was 50:1. In 1989, I purchased a 15hp Yamaha, and believe the mixture was 100:1, meaning less oil was required to be added to the fuel. In case I'm incorrect, which is quite possible, best you consult a local and reliable marine mechanic for the right answer. Regardless, most containers of outboard motor oil indicate the appropriate ratio of oil to fuel. Please keep me posted on your results.
