leaking fiberglass boat

Question
The "black plastic strip" that runs down the side of my 18' bowrider is coming away from the fiberglass.  If I turn the boat sharp and get the lake water level above this strip, water trickles into the inside of the boat.  Why is the strip coming off and what can I do to prevent it from doing this?

Answer
THIS IS A LITTLE OUT OF MY AREA, BUT HERE GOES. I AM ASSUMING YOUR TALKING ABOUT THE RUBRAIL. THIS IS WHERE THE HULL AND DECK ARE NORMALLY JOINED TO GETHER DURING ASSEMBLY. IF THE STRIP IS COMING LOOSE YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO REMOVE IT, RECAULK THE 2 MATING PARTS OF THE HULL AND DECK, THEN REINSTALL THE RUB RAIL. HOPE THIS ANSWERS YOUR QUESTION.
