Egines stall when shifting

2016/7/16 9:27:33

Question
Both my Mercruise engines will stall at th same time when shifting from neutral to reverse or neutral to forward. When this happens I need to move the shifters to neutral and re-start the engines. This always seems to happen when I am place the boat back in the slip. The boat is a 1998 SeaRay 330 sundancer with twin 7.4MPL engines.

Answer
Hi John

While I'm not a mechanic, I've encountered similar problems. Often, its the electronic choke that doesn't stay closed long enough. After taking off the flame arrestor, simply hold the butterfly valve down until after you've shifted to forward or reverse, and in all likelihood, this will work temporarily, till you get the matter repaired. However, sometimes, its just the linkage that requires adjustment.
