1993 FOUR WINNS HORIZON

Question
Good morning, I have a 1993 four winns horizon w/5.0 cobra outdrive. Since last summer I have been experiencing more than average water in bilge. This year I had the boot covering the driveshaft due to cracks (a possible source of leaks). No improvement was seen. I seem to get considerable water in midships ski locker also (wich is much higher than the bilge in the engine compartment). There appear to be no obvious defects in the hull. Boat is in very good condition. I have owned it for 6 years. Any ideas? thanks!

Answer
Hi Dave

Have you examined the exhaust manifolds for fractures from freezing? Are your scupper hoses properly secured and in good condition? Did you check the fresh water system, including all hoses? Are there any through hull fittings such as a depth sounder, etc. that may be leaking? What about hull fractures?

That's about all I can think of that would require close examination. Your engine's fresh water intake, strainer, etc. would be obvious sources to check while in the engine compartment with the engine in operation, but I presume you've looked that over thoroughly.
