Question
Greetings I am in the United States Coast Guard in Wilmington, NC and have about two years left before I retire, how can I get a job like yours.  I too investgate boat collisons and mariners who test positive for drugs while using there CG license or documents.

Thank you for visiting this site and for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.

Following retirement, self-employment does have its advantages. I suggest you make your services known to insurance companies & adjusters, criminal & civil attorneys, as well as law enforcement agencies and district attorneys. Then there's task of determining the value of your services. No doubt you're familiar with the International Association of Marine Investigators (IAMI). The cost of bus. cards, pamphlets and a web iste are minimal.

I'm concluding that you've attained a college level of education, and that your technical skills via the CG have included expert testimony. That's about it Iain. Good luck.
